2023 – AXΩ hosts ASTP

Alpha Chi Omega nationally has four educational programs, the four programs are rotated among collegiate chapters each year and include InTune, Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP), Let’s Talk Love and Kaleidoscope. These four distinct rotational programs cover topics such as vulnerability, reducing risk, healthy and unhealthy relationships, diversity, equity and inclusion, and more. This year the VP of Risk Management, Margaret worked with the Facilitator, Matthew Boudreaux to host ASTP for the Chapter. Boudreaux is an employee at Clemson University, currently serving as Assistant Director of Student Transitions .

ALCOHOL SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM (ASTP)

The Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP) is an interactive alcohol program acknowledging that college students may choose to drink and focusing on evidence-based education to encourage steps toward reduced risks. The goal of ASTP is to educate students about alcohol, increase students’ ability to critically examine their drinking patterns and eventually implement the skills they learn.

Due to our chapter size, we split up our training into two facilitators with a surprise visit from Momma P ice-cream! A great sweet treat to end session 1, and kick-off session 2

AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN ASTP, OUR MEMBERS WILL:

  • Identify Alpha Chi Omega’s backstops
  • Define a standard drink
  • Evaluate their personal use of alcohol
  • Describe how alcohol affects the body at various levels of consumption
  • Explain factors that influence blood alcohol level (BAL)
  • Identify risk-reduction strategies for alcohol consumption
  • Identify ways to change their current pattern of alcohol use
