2023 – Sisters inducted into Garnet & Gold Scholar Society

Florida State University welcomed 113 new inductees into its prestigious Garnet & Gold Scholar Society this spring during a special ceremony on Tuesday, April 25. Congratulations to sisters Victoria Cardoso, Morgan Marissa, Allison Keeling and Ally Columbus!!

Established in 2010, the Garnet & Gold Scholar Society facilitates student involvement and recognizes undergraduate students who excel within and beyond the classroom in at least three of five areas: international experience, internship, leadership, research and service.

To become an inductee of the Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, students must meet the engagement criteria and submit a synthesis reflection project in their final semester before graduation. Participants are recognized during graduation and receive a designation on their official university transcript, both of which make the students more marketable to potential employers or graduate programs.

2023 – Seminole 100 Torchbearer

Congratulations to the 10 Alpha Chi’s who were inducted into the Torchbearer 100… Selected out of the 45,000 students that make up FSU undergraduate population. Each year the Division of Student Affairs is proud to recognize 100 of the most outstanding, undergraduate leaders and achievers across campus who, during their time at Florida State, have built upon our tradition of exceptional student life. “Leaders and achievers” is intentionally vague to qualify a diverse array of students, linked by the magnitude of their impact with in their realm of influence. The Torchbearer 100 seeks to bring these accomplishments out of their silos and honored at the university level.

The Torchbearer 100 leans on the fact that as an individual grows, their potential grows with them and that this growth creates avenues for an exponential positive impact on their communities. We know this to be true because this is the history, tradition, and spirit of student leaders at Florida State.

Attributes of a member of the Torchbearer 100 may be demonstrated by, but not limited to, the following examples:

  • Led by their example holding themselves, and those around them, to a higher standard
  • Visionary community builders, striving for a more inclusive and thriving environment
  • Dared to challenge generally accepted norms and have been so bold to strive for a more ideal alternative
  • Demonstrated their commitment to Florida State through their leadership and service to their spaces within the university
  • Made exceptional accomplishment in their field of study or area of involvement
  • Had a transformative personal development journey while at Florida State
  • Strived for the betterment of something beyond themselves
  • An infectious belief in and ability to bring out the best of their peers
  • Their positive impact made a significant difference in student life and their legacy will extend beyond their time on campus

This recognition aims to thank and celebrate these students who have made significant contributions to our community and whose legacy has strengthened the foundation set for Florida State students to come.

2023 – Alpha Chi Omega continues McDowell Month Celebrations – Members attend Florida State University School of Theater – Something Rotten

Members of Alpha Chi Omega attended the FSchool of Theatre at Florida State University: Something Rotten with Music by Karey Kirkpatrick & Wayne Kirkpatrick
Book by Karey Kirkpatrick & John O’Farrell. The event took place at the University Fallon Theatre. Members met at the chapter house and walked to the event together.

Something Rotten is a saga of artistic rivalry and camaraderie over-stuffed with in-jokes for Broadway fans. It premiered at the St. James Theatre in 2015 starring Christian Borle, Brian D’Arcy James, and John Cariani after a twenty-year development journey.

Welcome to the Renaissance, where a leather-clad wordsmith with swiveling hips is rocking London: Shakespeare! Meanwhile, down-on-their-luck playwrights, Nick and Nigel Bottom can’t summon a single sonnet. Then, when Nostradamus himself foretells “the future of theatre”, the Bottom brothers hatch a plan to rise to the top. Hilarity ensues in this campy lampoon of England’s first-ever musical.

2023 – Vision Board event in partnership with Florida State University CHAW (Collegiate Health and Wellness office)

Some of the world’s most influential thought leaders – agree. It is possible to turn your dreams into reality through manifesting and hard work! The sisters worked to be intentional with their goals through the CHAW guided workshop. Members looked at short and longterm goals, and visualized both the goal and the action steps that would make the abstract goal/idea come to fruition. The vision boards were poster-sized visuals, contain all kinds of images and text that represent something members are trying to accomplish.

There great news is there are really no rules when it comes to vision boards, since it’s about crafting something that will inspire you to realize your dreams and goals on a daily basis. Some vision boards hone in on a singular idea, while others look at the bigger picture of what you might want the future to look like. This past week VP DEI Anna partnered with the Florida State University CHAW (Collegiate Health and Wellness office) to host the event for members of the chapter. Members of the CHAW team came with magazines, poster boards, etc. And Alpha Chi brought markers, tape, and other supplies. The event was a fun fun arts and crafts project that allowed members to see what their goals would look like once they achieve them. Each member walked away from the event with a unique board and we have confidence each member will be successful in seeking the heights!

With Love & Loyalty – Spring 2023 Initiation

We never get tired of hearing, seeing, and experiencing our Ritual (but we do sort of get tired of moving furniture – gotta be honest, since that is an Alpha Chi value!)

What a special time to see our new members receive their Symphony, Lavaliere, and Dream Cake at the Inspiration, Lavaliere, and Dream Cake Ceremonies, respectively.

And then Initiation with the Ritual and Fraternity Appreciation Committee and New Member Education Committee – WE COULD NOT DO IT without such amazing officers!

We are reminded to “Seek the Heights” and that the “the deepest joy in life comes from giving of yourself.” Who could deny such important precepts of life? GO Alpha Chi!

WELCOME:

2023 – Alpha Chi Omega takes on Dance Marathon – raising money for and supporting Children Miracle Network

This weekend Alpha Chi Omega, along with their pair Kappa Sigma take on Dance Marathon. Alpha Chi’s goal is set to raise $10,000 for the cause. This is the 28th year of DM at FSU (how many of our alumnae remember those early years of a 32 hour thon in Tully Gym)

2023 Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi

As Healthy Relationships week comes to a close the chapter is proud of all they have accomplished. The goal of Alpha Chi Omega’s Healthy Relationships Week is to foster the development of healthy relationships and, by so doing, prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. To end the week – the chapter hosted their annual Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi event to raise awareness but also funding for the local shelter for victims of domestic and/or sexual assault – the Refuge House. The event raised $8700+ and the chapter was able to raise awareness with hundreds from the campus and local community.
